Luc Albert is a successful international executive turned investor and non-executive director. His executive advisory work is underpinned by his international background and experience of running businesses on various continents. He regularly works with executives and their teams, helping them to achieve ambitious growth and development goals.
Luc has extensive experience in change management, having successfully restructured business units and led diverse teams through periods of transformation. Having spent most of his career in global firms, he has a strong understanding of the challenges posed by internal organisational complexity and market pressures. He builds relationships easily, brings a lot of energy to conversations and moves effortlessly between support and challenge. His curiosity generates new ideas in every conversation. He is an attentive listener who enjoys supporting his clients pragmatically.
Luc joined Swiss Re in Zurich in 1994. In 1996, he moved to Mexico City, where he acted as Market Executive and COO, co-leading the integration of Reaseguros Alianza. From 2000 onwards, while based in New York, he led the restructuring of Swiss Re’s Latin American business, redefining its strategic positioning and transforming the market unit into a profitable enterprise. He also played a key role as the global integration leader after Swiss Re acquired General Electric’s reinsurance activities. Between 2006 and 2008, he was the CEO of Swiss Re Frankona and a Management Board Member of Swiss Re’s German entities. From late 2008 onwards, he led several EMEA market teams, including those in Continental Europe, the Mediterranean region, and the Middle East.
After graduating from university, Luc began his career in the Swiss machinery industry, working as a research engineer in Geneva and a project manager in Zurich. He holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from TU Delft and has completed an Executive MBA (D1) at IPADE in Mexico City, as well as the Advanced Management Programme and International Directors Programme at INSEAD in Fontainebleau. In 2024, he completed the Mastered Business Coaching programme at Meyler Campbell. He is also a longstanding member of the Executive Education Board at the TUM School of Management in Munich.
Luc was born in the Netherlands and holds Dutch and Swiss citizenship. He is fluent in Dutch, English, German, Spanish and French. He lives near Zurich with his wife and three grown-up children.
