Gunther’s expertise lies – next to strategy – in transformation, digitalization, change management and HR management. Both as a top management consultant and as a mentor and coach, Gunther has been a sparring partner to C-suite executives, driving large-scale transformation, growth strategies, digital transformation, and agile@scale programs. Gunther has led digital and agile transformations for major banks and insurers in the US, Central America, Scandinavia, the UK and in the German speaking countries. Since 2015, Gunther has been a Managing Director/Partner and Mentor with Bernotat & Cie. GmbH, The Mentoring Company, focusing on working with top executives in personal transformation, executive team alignment, and company-wide transformations of client organisations. He has led mentoring programs in the context of post-merger integration programs and major transformation programs. He is also engaged in the mentoring of CHROs in several companies and industries.
Gunther’s passion is personal growth and team development. Based on three decades of experience in designing and executing corporate strategies, large scale transformation, PMI and complex global re-organisation programs, he is a highly regarded thought partner for senior executives. He also cares for the individual development of leaders and the alignment of top management teams in order to achieve the full potential of an organisation.
Early in his career, Gunther worked as an Assistant Professor for Strategy, Organisation and HR and as a Management Trainer for OrgDesign in Germany and Switzerland. He worked for strategy consultancies Boston Consulting Group and Bain & Company for 27 years, and that included global practice area leadership for the insurance and HR/transformation/change management practices. He founded the Health Region Cologne Bonn and serves as a board member. Gunther co-founded the platforms for digital transformation InsurLab Germany and Digital Health Germany and serves as Senior Advisor and Mentor for these organisations.
Gunther holds a PhD in Economics. He is Honorary Professor for Strategic HR Management at the Leuphana University in Lüneburg. He is a Meyler Campbell certified Business Coach and works in German and English.
Gunther is married with two grown up children. He enjoys travelling the world, keen to experience different cultures and people. He also loves different sports activities, is a competitive runner and plays golf.
